Idea Board ~ Pre-Design Phase ~
My name is Max Johnston, and this proposal deck serves as a visual representation of the various services that I can offer to The Syndicate.
My expertise as a fine artist allows me to create murals catered to The Syndicates’ style, as well as craft a unique experience for all who arrive at the storefront.
Having painted extensively large murals as a solo artist, I have the knowledge needed to bring your vision to life with superb quality.
Please Note:
All the following proposals are not actual artist designs and are rough around the edges.
Artist designs will take place at the next stage of commission if the project is to move forward and will involve building the actual image to be painted alongside the clients’ wishes and approval, for up to 2 free renditions before proceeding with the mural painting itself.
The following is merely proof of concept for services possible.
Tall Wall
Can be done during the day without losing too much parking
If done during the day then it can be used for marketing (I.e. advertising live painting)
Is not visible from the street so it can be painted without a permit for signage. (ask for more details)
Will undoubtedly require a lift rental
Slightly more dangerous and complicated section to paint. Requires sophisticated projector setups or gridwork and design planning to achieve the image without distortion.
Would sketch on the wall over the course of 1-2 nights. Then, depending on the complexity of the design, I would execute the piece over the course of 10 days or less.
17.3’ x 23.3’ ~ 403 sqft
$14,000 - $33,000 Approx.
($30,000 for pictured image approx.)
If going with this style of imagery: it pairs really well with expressionist aerosol techniques.
Check out similar murals I’ve painted with such techniques:
Long Wall
Needs to be done either at night or in sections by day in order to avoid a parking fiasco and/or vehicle damage.
If done during the day then it can be used for marketing (I.e. advertising live painting)
Is not visible from the street so it can be painted without a permit for signage. (ask for more details)
Could potentially be done with a ladder and scaffolding in order to save money on equipment rentals (at the expense of the project taking weeks longer than w/ a lift)
Fairly straightforward process. Would sketch on the wall over the course of 1-3 nights. Then, depending on the complexity of the design, I would execute the piece over the course of 1-3 weeks.
14.6’ x 105.3’ ~ 1,537.38 sqft
$38,500 - $77,000 Approx.
($47,000 for pictured image approx.)
Important to note: Price varies by complexity of the image, supplies required, difficulty/risk of the job itself, along with a multitude of other factors.
For example:
Less Detailed Images / Bulk Paint / Broad Strokes
$38,000- $50,000 Approx.
More Images / Broader Range Paint / Fine Detail
$50,000 - $77,000 Approx.
Minimal Detail / Minimal Color / Large Single Color Areas
$38,000- $45,000 Approx.
Combo Wall
Everything from the previous two walls combined.
The only added advantage is that the lift will be available for the entire duration of the mural.
Fairly straightforward process. Would sketch on the wall over the course of 2-4 nights. Then, depending on the complexity of the design, I would execute the piece over the course of 1 month or less
14.6’ x 105.3’ + 8.7’ x 17.3’ ~ 1,687.89 sqft
$67,500 - $84,500 Approx.
($70,ooo for pictured image approx.)
Smoke Shop Wall
In my personal opinion this wall is the most attention grabbing wall in RDC’s parking lot, and as such, it’s the best for a mural.
This wall IS visible from the street so would be subject to signage permits. Would be best to avoid branding all together and take the “fine art” approach in order to avoid the permiting process.
Could be done with ladder and scaffolding to save on rental costs at the expense of time to complete.
In my experience as a driver for RDC this would be the easiest space to section off for the duration of the mural, as it would have little impact on parking.
Fairly straightforward process. Would sketch on the wall over the course of 1-2 nights. Then, depending on the complexity of the design, I would execute the piece over the course of 3 weeks or less.
16.1’ x 45.3’ ~ 729.33 sqft
$25,500 - $36,500 Approx.
($36,500 for pictured image approx.)
Had to actually build this image in photoshop because this framing doesnt exist in the show.
Roll Up Gates
Unassumingly difficult to paint. Easily the hardest surface to work on in the entire lot.
Requires somewhat thorough cleaning before hand. Might even require specialty primer if intended to last more than a couple years.
No special vertical equipment required.
Little to no impact on parking.
Straightforward process. Would sketch on the roll ups in 1 night. Then, depending on the complexity of the design, I would execute the piece over the course of a couple days. (These estimates are per gate)
Per Gate Approx:
10’ x 11.75’ ~ 117.5 sqft (without awning) /// 6.7’ x 11.75’ ~ 78.73 sqft (with awning)
$2,937.50 - $5,875.00 /// $1,968.25 - $3,936.50
All Gates Approx:
1,254.92 sqft
$31,373.00 - $62,746.00
Would be willing to do a deal on multiple gates.
4 gates or more at $3,750 per gate: ($15,000.00 minimum)
8 gates or more at $3,250 per gate: ($26,000.00 minimum)
All 12 gates at $2,500 per gate: ($30,000.00)
All Walls
Brought up to me by Amir originally. I was unsure of how serious he was, but I decided to include a low effort pitch for it anyway.
He had mentioned that there was discussion of turning the entire lot into an old timey itallian villa / little italy faux shops. Was unsure of the total direction (if there is any) so i slapped together a thumbnail to represent the space.
Would need immense amounts of planning.
Includes every wall in this deck as well as additional flourishes throughout the lot.
Will require every tool at my disposal as well as additional heavy equipment rentals.
Massive impact on parking if done incorrectly.
Very complex process. Not going to go into detail with how meticulous the process would need to be, but it would be a multiple months thing from design initiation to completion of mural.
All pitched walls plus additional surfaces is:
Around 4000 sqft
$120,000.00 - $200,000.00
(yeah, its a big one for sure)
We’ve reached the end of the pitch!
Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to working with RDC in an artistic capacity.
Warm Regards,
Max Johnston
